WILL YOU SEND GOD’S WORD TO THE “LAND OF THE THUNDER DRAGON”?

Dear Friend of Eurasia: The nation of Bhutan is a remote, mysterious land. Few people can find it easily on a map, yet this land is of great importance to God. The problem is, the people of Bhutan don’t yet know it. Sandwiched between India and China, Bhutan is perched high in the Himalaya Mountains. When storms roll through its deep valleys, thunder bounces against the rugged mountainsides. In times past, this loud rumbling was thought to be the sound of a dragon flying overhead. People named the area Druk Yul, or Land of the Thunder Dragon. The treacherous terrain…

HOME OF HOPE— SHAPING THE FUTURE OF CHILDREN IN DHAKA, BANGLADESH

Dear Friend of Eurasia, In the short time Larry Smith had been serving in Bangladesh, people had come to him asking for a variety of things. But one man made a request that left him in shock. “Brother, take my child.” The desperation in the man’s voice was obvious. He wanted the best for his child, but he had no way to provide what was needed. Unfortunately, neither did Larry. The man walked dejectedly from Larry’s office that day. Larry never knew what happened to him or his child, but that brief encounter set a course for Larry’s life and…

AJI SE DIN: ONE DAY CAN CHANGE A CHILD’S LIFE

Dear Friend of Eurasia, The biggest children’s outreach in Bangladesh is December 16. That day is Victory Day, the national holiday commemorating the end of Bangladesh’s liberation war. The outreach, called Aji Se Din (which in Bangladesh means “This is the Day”), brings hope to children in the slums. Twelve-year-old Parvej lives in a slum outside Bangladesh’s capital city. He is eagerly awaiting this December’s outreach. “I go to the mosque every Friday for prayer,” says Parvej, “but when I went to the Aji Se Din outreach, I found love and hospitality. There is no other program in my community…

EQUIP SRI LANKANS TO PLANT 10,000 CHURCHES BY 2020!

Dear Friend of Eurasia, Gunshots rang outside Bhagya’s home in Sri Lanka late one evening. Her husband burst through the door, followed by men armed with knives and guns. The men proceeded to kill her husband, fulfilling the death threats they had made for months. Bhagya’s husband was Pastor Supun, who planted the first Assemblies of God church in southern Sri Lanka. As people began coming to Christ, Buddhist extremists fought him for years until finally they took his life. After Pastor Supun’s death, Bhagya made a promise to God that she would stay in that city, living among the…

Nepal Churches Need You

Dear Friend of Eurasia, Prem Maya didn’t know if she was going to live or die. Trapped under a pile of rubble, she struggled to hold on to hope that she’d be rescued. It was April 25, 2015. That morning, Prem and her fellow believers had gathered to worship together in their hillside church in the Sindupalchok district of Nepal. At 11:56 am, as Prem’s pastor preached, the earth began to shake violently. The concrete wall behind the platform suddenly collapsed outward, the rush of air pulling the pastor right out of the building. Church members panicked as they realized…
